The number one college decision making factor…

18 April 2012 286 views One Comment

Last week we asked you in a poll, “what is you number one college decision making factor?” The choices were as follows:

  • I have to love the school. I will chose my number one school regardless of any other factor.
  • It all comes down to money. Whatever school gives me the best financial aid package.
  • As long as my parents are happy, I am happy.
  • I’m just lucky to get into school. I will go to any school that will have me.

The results were overwhelming! Nearly 460 of you shared your opinion. The decision was pretty much split between the first two options. 47% said that the most important factor was going to a school that they loved regardless of anything else and 45% said it all comes down to money. They other two options got very few votes. Only 2% said that their parents have the last say and only 6% said they would go to any school they were accepted to.

Beyond the given choices, one student commented, “The most important thing to consider when choosing a college is how good the program is for the career that you plan on pursuing. If you plan on being a doctor, choose a school that has a good med program.” Other students said that location, reputation, and accreditation are also important.

What do you think? Is there anything that we missed? Leave a comment and let us know!

I would have to agree with the fact that money is a big problem, especially the economy that we are in. But for undergrad I don’t think it matters what school you go to.
