12.17.08 | Scholarship funding and cool stuff for you to try!
What did everyone think of the scholarship offers last week? I’m sure red flags went up for some of you. I know whenever I’m blugeoned by flashy advertisements that tell me I could be the next winner!, I tend to shy away. I do want to insist though that I actually called up and talked to the people who run those scholarships (FCS.net, the military one, and WinningSurveys), and it’s true, they give an awful lot of money away every month to a relatively small number of applicants. If you still haven’t signed up, you can do so here. And I’ll give you a little inside scoop…every time you guys sign up for one of the offers we present you, we get a small commission. That money is fully dedicated to funding our own scholarships BACK to you. So not only are you getting entries into scholarships, but you’re also doing your part to insure ScholarshipPoints will keep giving away more money every month from our own scholarships. Besides, we value your guys’ constant feedback, input, and general activity on our site, so we wouldn’t scare you away with anything we wouldn’t sign up for ourselves.
So without further adieu…more stuff for you guys to consider. These aren’t scholarship offers, but I think they’re pretty cool nonetheless:
- The first is Netflix. Everyone knows Netflix right? It’s a cheap subscription service where you can rent pretty much as many DVDs as you want. I’ve used them for the last two years and consider it money well spent. Movies arrive in a day, I watch them and send them back in the prepaid package. I split the most expensive plan with 2 roommates, so we had unlimited movie rentals for just a few dollars a piece.
- The second is eMusic.com. I don’t use them personally, but a very reputable source (my roommate) tells me it’s a great alternative to iTunes. While you’re spending $0.99 cents a song at iTunes, you get 25 free trial songs from eMusic that work on any MP3 player. If you choose to continue after the trial there are a few different plans to choose from ranging from $0.27-0.40 cents a song.
Keep in mind, these are both 2 week free trials. Meaning, if you try them out and cancel them within 2 weeks, you won’t be charged a thing. In my opinion, some free movie nights and 25 free MP3′s is worth filling out a form or two. Thanks guys!

i guess its a good incentive for those who are actually interested…i tried a netflix trail before and it wasnt like it wowed me,
I have used Netflix and Blockbuster and they both are pretty much the same. I find I get bored after a couple of months after I've caught up on all the movies I missed. I think a 2 week trial is great, I can think of a bunch of movies I skipped at the theater I might check out.
Also the eMusic will come in handy for the tip home this week. It will be awesome to have a bunch of new music!
I use eMusic. Don't buy into the iTunes hype. You can get more artists available at places like eMusic.
eMusic is the best music store. Been using that site for over 6 months and will continue in the future. Very safe.
Well I think netflex is cool but emusic u can download music for free to ur phone.
We used NetFlix for some time and my family loved it. But we can't get it anymore. A 2 week trial is perfect!
Netflix is alright, but i seem to run out of movies i want to watch after a few months. although it is awesome to get a movie when you are bored outta your mind!
I think that there a lot of great scholarships which are easy to apply to, but it is sometimes hard to get points
We have had Netflix before and we loved it! We had to stop service when we moved, so now is the perfect time to try it out again. I have never tried emusic before, I'll check it out.
I think Netflix is great! I've used it before and it's nice.

You can also watch netflix movies instantly online, and on your xbox! They aren't the most popular movies, but some are pretty good (like seasons of shows and stuff).
