After a long summer of Scholarship Idol we are pleased to release the final results.

Thanks to all who entered back in the YouTube round and to those who made it to the member voting round. And now without further ado, the winner of the 2008 Scholarship Idol is:

Vote Calculations

The final calculations are different than the real time display because the rules state only ScholarshipPoints members may vote and only one entry per member is allowed. We unfortunately had 450 votes which were either duplicate or made by non-members and this had a big impact on some entries.

All runners-up will receive a Flip Video Camcorder and the winner will need to contact us so that we can get the information we require for sending the winning scholarship check to their school financial aid office.

As the votes start streaming in for the 2008 Scholarship Idol I wanted to give some encouragement to all entrants and lay the smack down on cheaters, not that there are any but there always seems to be soembody who tries to trick the system and yes we’ve pulled scholarships from winners a a couple of time already for cheating.

For Finalists

If you are a finalist and need votes you can impact this. Only members can vote but your friends should all be members anyway so get them to join and vote for you! They might win a scholarship of their own as well.

Also don’t get down if you aren’t doing so well in the voting yet, there’s plenty of time and things can change overnight.

About Cheating

Remember each vote must be entered by a valid ScholarshipPoints member. We will verify each entry to make sure the name, email and school matches our databse records for members. If there is a question we may contact the voting member to verify. If it becomes apparent that there is some tom foolery, shady business or other shennagians with a video entry votes we reserve the right to toss that entry out of the competition!

You’ve worked hard to get this far and you’re all smart kids, just don;t try to oursmart Point Guard and Professor or Professor will be on you like a spider monkey.

Videos entries are only accepted until September 5, 2008! The top ten videos with the most views on YouTube will be placed on ScholarshipPoints.com for members to vote on their favorite entry. Do you want to be in the top ten? Then promote your video! We have a few suggestions for you which will hopefully stack up your YouTube views!

*Before continuing, remember that each view represents the completion of a full version of the video. In other words, the full length of the video must play out to count for one view.

• Add your video to your MySpace profile

- Go to view your video on YouTube, and click on the MySpace icon under Share. Choose where you want your video to appear, and then click ‘Post It!’

• Add your video to your Facebook profile

– Go to view your video on YouTube, and click on the Facebook icon under Share. Log in and add your video! Send out your  video’s YouTube URL to all of your friends, family and email contacts

• Bring the URL into work, and have your coworkers watch
• If you will be in school in August, then have your classmates view you
• Get your friends and family to spread the word!

- Have them post your video on their MySpace and Facebook pages. Share it with their friends, coworkers, and email contacts
