Greetings, scholarship seekers!

I hope you have all been well since last Thursday’s New Scholarships Alert. Once again, you’ve come to right place to find out about a few of the recent additions to StudentScholarshipSearch.

Sonic Electronix’s Audiophile Scholarship
Leading consumer electronics company Sonic Electronix prides itself by supplying customers with high quality car stereo equipment. In an effort to award students who are passionate about DJ equipment, headphones, and audio in general. Applicants are asked to describe their passion by answering provided essay questions. To be eligible for the $1,000 prize, applications must be complete by July 31.

The CollegeTalk Scholarship
The College Inquirer is promoting a scholarship that provides each applicant the opportunity to nominate a presidential candidate for the 2012 election. Who do you think would best represent our country? No candidate or issue is off limits. In less than 600 words, applicants should express both what they believe are the most prominent issues that will decide the winner of next year’s election, as well as issues that are most important to them as current or prospective college students. Be sure to send in your essay by the August 14 deadline.

The Brown Aveda Institute Scholarship
The Brown Aveda Institute, a beauty and cosmetology school located in Ohio, is in the midst of accepting essay and question submissions from those who wish to participate in one of the institution’s fashion events. If selected to participate in this event, applicants will compete against one another by styling a selected model’s hair and makeup. Three winners will be chosen as the recipients of full scholarships to attend either of Brown Aveda Institute’s locations! To avoid missing out in this contest, complete and submit the essay and questions by 5 pm on August 5.

Happy Thursday to all of you scholarship enthusiasts out there!

Since we sent out our most recent scholarship alert last week, we have added even more new scholarships to StudentScholarshipSearch that we can’t wait to tell you about. Below are descriptions of a few of the scholarships we have added with you in mind:

The Lee and Byun International Relations and Cultural Awareness Scholarship will award $500 to the winning applicant, assisting them with educational costs. Named after two Korean natives who witnessed the devastation of the country’s war, this scholarship seeks to recognize the most outstanding essay that conveys passion, understanding, and appreciation for international relations, cultural awareness, and the impact that pioneers for positive change can achieve. It is open not only to U.S. citizens, but also to citizens of countries around the world. Each year’s deadline for consideration is January 31.

The Christopher J. Coffland Quest for Knowledge Scholarship honors United State’s Army Corporal Coffland, who was killed in action during Operation Enduring Freedom, in Afghanistan in 2009. The scholarship challenges applicants to compose an essay on a specific issue of consequence and particular interest, addressing a topic related to national security, strategic studies, cultural awareness, and diplomacy. In order to win the $500 award, essays must be submitted by July 31.

The Sharps Compliance, Inc. Spring Scholarship Essay Contest
Sharps Compliance, Inc. endorses an essay contest that is open to all students accepted to or currently enrolled at an accredited university, in healthcare related studies. Applicants may choose to write their essay about one of three given topics: Environmental and Home Safety Concerns Surrounding Unused and Expired Medications, Green Initiatives Directed at Medical Waste Treatment, or Accidental Needle-Stick Injuries Outside of the Hospital and Healthcare Setting. All essay submissions are currently being accepted, and will continue to be until the deadline on October 31. Prizes will be awarded to the top three essays, as judged by the company’s panel, and announced on November 30.

Sharps Compliance is also offering a similar scholarship opportunity, the Spring 2012 Veterinarian Scholarship Essay Contest, which entails a similar application and the same entry deadline. Since we’re at that point in the week again, it seems more than fitting to inform all of you about the new scholarships that have been added to StudentScholarshipSearch. Some of them have fast-approaching deadlines, so be sure to take a look at them and apply as soon as possible if you’re interested!

CheapCarInsurance Safe Driver $2,500 Scholarship
CheapCarInsurance is awarding this scholarship to promote safe driving practices. It is available to anyone currently attending or planning to attend an institution of higher education during the 2011-2012 school year. To win the scholarship, create something that inspires people to be safe on the road. This can be an essay, video, photos, or any combination of other media. Post it online for all to see, and be sure to submit it by December 1.

The Jim & Anna Hyonjoo Lint Scholarship
This scholarship opportunity, sponsored by the Lint Center for National Security Studies, Inc., is being offered to advance the education and career development of scholars in the areas of International Affairs, Counterintelligence, and National Security. Applicants should prepare an essay that explains one of the goals or concepts of the Lint Center, and may included feelings, ideas or experiences regarding counterintelligence, Alliance Building, and National Security and Defense. The essay is due by July 31.

Vancouver Restaurant Scholarship
The Vancouver Restaurant Scholarship has been provided by Cafe Il Nido, a top ranking Italian restaurant since 1988. The application entails a 250-500 word essay including the author’s thoughts on the main causes of an increase in post secondary education costs. The scholarship is due on July 31, and has a total value of $500.

07.07.11 | New Scholarships Alert: 7/7/11

Good afternoon, scholarship seekers, and Happy July! I hope many of you were able to celebrate Independence Day, or at least got to enjoy the nice long weekend.

We are approaching the middle of summer, but don’t by any means let this discourage you! Because mid-July is just around the corner, many of the scholarships that have been added to StudentScholarshipSearch have July 15 deadlines. Here’s an overview of some of them:



The ERCA Community Contribution Scholarship
The Educational Research Center of America sponsors this scholarship for high school students. Applicants are asked to describe an activity in which they have participated that demonstrates their commitment to the community. Specifically, they must have recognized a need or problem in their community, determined a way to address this need or solve this problem, and developed an action plan to do so. Applications will be accepted through July 15, and 25 students will receive a grant of $1,000 to cover college-related expenses.

The DirectTextbook.com Scholarship Essay Contest
Offered by DirectTextbook.com, this scholarship involves a 500 word essay prompt on each applicant’s definition of integrity. The winner of this contest will be awarded $1,000, and $250 will also be given to the runner up. Applications will be accepted until July 16, and winners will be notified by August 10.

Capture the Dream Scholarships
Capture the Dream, Inc. is promoting two different $1,000 scholarships with July 15 deadlines:

1. The George Geng On Lee Minorities in Leadership Scholarship is available to minority students who are recent high school graduates or are currently full time undergraduate students. Applicants are prompted to explain why they should be selected as the recipient of this scholarship, and may use school, home, and work experience to display challenges they may have faced as minorities. They may also state how any career goals and future aspirations will build them as future minority leaders.

2. The Single Parent Scholarship is for single California resident parents graduating from high school or enrolled at a 2 or 4-year undergraduate institution. In 1,000 words or less, applicants should describe how school, home, and work experiences challenged them as single parents, and show how they overcame adversity to exemplify leaders.
