Free College Scholarship Program

03.25.10 | New Scholarships Alert

Posted in New Scholarships by Kristin Morris

Hi everyone! I just wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about a few new scholarships I have come across recently.

The first scholarship is from the FRA which is the leading voice of enlisted Sea Service personnel on Capitol Hill. The FRA Scholarship Program is proud to support America’s future leaders by awarding more than $100,000 annually in scholarships to deserving students. Winners are selected based on financial need, academic standing, character and leadership qualities.

Another scholarship that I came across this week is the Paul Goodman Essay Contest. The Paul Goodman Essay Contest is brought to you by Dissent Magazine and JSL Films. The contest aims to introduce Paul Goodman – a beacon of the 1960s progressive student movement and an influential social critic and thinker – to today’s young minds. The winner of this scholarship contest receives a $1,000 scholarship as well as publication in Dissent Magazine.

The final scholarship I have to tell you about this week is the Holocaust Remembrance Project. The Holocaust Remembrance Project is a national essay contest for high school students designed to encourage and promote the study of the Holocaust. Scholarships are awarded to the top winning essayists, ranging from $5,000 to $2,500. Second and third place winners receive cash prizes of $500 and $250.

That is all for this week! Do not forget that the March $1,000 Free College Scholarship Drawing is only a week away so get all of your scholarship points into the hat by March 31 at midnight!

03.22.10 | ScholarshipPoints.com Awards Second $10,000 Scholarship of 2010

Posted in Scholarship Contests by Kristin Morris

Just three months into 2010, ScholarshipPoints.com has given away over $25,000 in scholarship money.

Quincy, MA March 17, 2010 – ScholarshipPoints.com, an Edvisors online education company, recently awarded its second $10,000 scholarship of 2010. This scholarship award is a testament to ScholarshipPoints’ commitment to defraying the cost of college for students in need of financial assistance. Through their free scholarships program, ScholarshipPoints will help students of all ages achieve their dreams of a college education by giving away up to $100,000 in 2010. To ensure funds are used for educational purposes, awards are sent directly to the student’s financial aid office.

Participation in the college scholarship rewards program is free and students can win just by becoming members. Students increase their chances of winning by earning points, called scholarship points, and entering them into monthly drawings for free scholarships. Members earn points by taking surveys, reading blog posts about paying for and saving money while in college, and completing other engaging activities.

Kyle Urbanec, a student at Southeast Community College Lincoln, became the latest $10,000 scholarship winner through the March drawing. “With this scholarship I will be able to work less and focus more on schooling,” said Kyle. “I just signed up for ScholarshipPoints in January and I can’t believe I was chosen.”

In addition to a number of annual $10,000 scholarships, ScholarshipPoints gives away a number of $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 awards throughout the year. The ScholarshipPoints team hopes to be able to increase award amounts on a monthly basis going forward.

The ScholarshipPoints program has grown exponentially since 2008. In fact, membership has more than doubled in the past 12 months with 530,000 new members. In 2010 alone the site has already gained over 200,000 new members. “Because of our outstanding membership growth we are able to offer multiple scholarship contests every month. This keeps all of our members engaged,” said Gregg Manning, Director of Internet Strategy for ScholarshipPoints.com. “The more members we have, the more money we will be able to give away in the future.”

The next $10,000 scholarship winner will be drawn on June 15, 2010. Students have until June 14, 2010 to enter. To enter the June 15 $10,000 giveaway, and for announcements about future giveaways, visit www.ScholarshipPoints.com.

Federal Work Study, in Plain English: How the Federal Work Study program works, and why it probably is a great way for you to make some pocket money without getting in the way of your studies or classes.

03.04.10 | It’s Coming!!!

Posted in Scholarship Contests by Evan Jacobs

*Thud* *Thud* *Clunk* *Clunk* “Hear that?!”

“What is it?!!!” — “I don’t know! I think its……”

The 10K Scholarship Monster! Ooh, look! It’s holding a bundle of money in its meaty claws! Little Tommy, hurry and get the rake — maybe if we poke it mercilessly it’ll drop the cash! Yes, yes that’s it, that’s the ticket!

Wait, wait!! …. it’s speaking:

“RAWR! If you want my money you must earn scholarship points and present them to me by March 14th at the stroke of midnight… or I will eat your children. Or maybe I’ll just go for a swim, I like swimming.”

“But but, Mr. Scholarship Monster,” Little Tommy asked timidly, “where can we get scholarship points?”

“RAWRRRRRRR! In the village square, you must complete points earning activities and then redeem them for entries into my contest!”

Little Tommy spoke with a quiet voice, “But Mr. 10K Monster, I’m not out of high school yet… am I old enough?” The Monster thought carefully and declared, “You’re cool with me kid, if you’re at least a senior in high school.”

Suddenly, the Monster realized it was dinnertime and waded back into the village’s murky lake. “Remember, by midnight on March 14th!” And it was gone.
