Are you working towards a marketing degree that will take you through the constantly evolving world of multi-channel marketing (mobile, web, email, virtual worlds, social media networks, podcasting) in the 21st century?

How would you like to earn a $500 Scholarship and real world experience at the same time?

We will award one (1) $500 scholarship to the person with the highest number of referred sign-ups to ScholarshipPoints as of midnight, September 30.

Here’s how it will work:

Up to 20 people will be chosen to submit a two-page marketing strategy for driving ScholarshipPoints.com membership. How do you get chosen? Simple: tweet the reason why you should be one of the 20. The only requirements here are your tweet must include the hashtag #SPSMM and it must appear on the public timeline prior to Midnight EST August 23, 2009. Remember you have only 140 characters and only ONE shot to make the cut.

Examples:

  • I’ve got 13,177 followers on Twitter and I’ll ask all of them to sign up for ScholarshipPoints. #SPSMM
  • I’m a member of the largest sorority at UMass. You’ll be the subject of our next sorority video if I’m chosen. #SPSMM
  • My blog has 5,000 daily readers and I can get at least half to sign up! #SPSMM

The 20 first-round finalists will be given one week (August 24 – 30) to submit a one-page marketing plan. How are you going to tell your community, offline and online, about ScholarshipPoints? Twitter, your blog, Facebook?

Your ideas will be submitted to three (3) judges who will pick 10 finalists to go out and execute their marketing plans. The 10 finalists will be given 30 days (September 1 -30) to execute their marketing plan.

The winner will be the person with the highest number of referred sign-ups to ScholarshipPoints as of midnight, September 30.

Frequent updates will be posted with new member sign-ups. All new members will be included in regularly scheduled ScholarshipPoints newsletters and promotions.

All regular ScholarshipPoints terms & conditions apply to this scholarship.

Good luck!

08.06.09 | Learn More About Our $1,000 July Scholarship Winner – Jeffrey Ou

Posted in scholarship points by Kristin Morris

jeffI am an incoming freshman at the University of North Texas, where I am pursuing a Bachelor’s in Music (piano performance). As a musician, I realize the burden encountered by my fellow peers – both at home and abroad – in not only devoting a lifetime to the development of this craft but also the financial aspects (fees, materials, tuition, etc.) which drive the course of their progress.

With such issues come the dimmed prospects of many of these aspiring young artists, leaving much talent unrealized and even more so the opportunity to ever develop those talents to capacity, thus robbing these hopefuls of the dreams which inevitably consumed countless passionate, solitary, bitter, and often hellish hours as a musical voice strains to be heard in the world. This, coupled with personal dilemmas unavoidable in certain circumstances, makes such endeavors as scholarships and financial aid absolutely imperative toward setting the foundation for creating the life envisioned by the willing heart and that is the unique, rare promise of the American Dream.

As a child of divorced parents, I can only say I know in my own heart that same feeling of resentment…when your voice cannot be heard…the anger, when you know something very endearing is taken away…the pain, when there seems few places (and even fewer people) to which you can turn.

With this scholarship, I am thankful not for the fact that I’ve received $1000 for a weekend spending-spree at Hollister’s (though tempting as it may be), but for the fact that I am $1000 closer to achieving the life I begin to seek as I enter the University of North Texas…a journey which begins August 27, 2009 and shall continue for the duration that I am on this earth, for music is the universal language of the soul, and its discovery is truly the wonder of those who dare to seek it. And, though this financial incentive will likely be overwhelmed within the next year, or the next month, or perhaps even the next week, I will always be grateful I had this rare and vanishing opportunity to further my place in the 21st century society and the beacon of hope so characteristic in living the strong belief of the American Spirit.
