12.09.08 | Important Scholarship Policy Announcement
Please read the following important announcement concerning how we will award scholarships in 2009. We believe this change will encourage more member participation and make it even easier for active members to win.
Program Change
Effective January 2009, monthly scholarship drawing winners will be announced only on our website. We will no longer call and email the scholarship winners each month. In order to win a scholarship, members will need to check the website on the day specified for the drawing. From that day winners will have 3 days to contact us to claim their scholarship.
After 3 days the winner will forfeit the scholarship and first runner-up will be posted and given a chance to claim the prize. He or she will have 3 days to contact us. This process will continue until somebody claims the scholarship.
Why are we doing this?
If a person joins, enters a scholarship and then never comes back to the site we are happy to award them the prize if they win. Sometimes however, when we try to reach the winner and they don’t even know who we are it seems a little unfair to the members who worked really hard to earn lots of points and who visit us regularly.
This system will put the odds in favor of active and regular members. Anybody who wins can collect their prize by simple checking the site on the drawing date specified. However if they never come back to the site the prize will fall to somebody who does making it even more rewarding to be a member!
How will you know when the drawing is?
The next scholarship drawing date will be posted on the homepage of the site so you will always know the day to come back and check.
What if you are out of town or away from a PC?
We give you three days to check the website for your name to be posted on the homepage. Most people have internet access at least once in 72 hours but if you don’t you will know ahead of time which day to ask your family or friends to check for you.
If you don’t win, should you check back?
Yes! If you don’t win and the posted winner doesn’t respond in time you could be the next winner so it literally will pay to check back often!
Finally if you read this announcement here is a code for 15 points: IHOPEUWIN
Sincerely,

I am applying to schools internationally so I hope that I will also be eligible.
March 26th, 2009 | #
I think it’s a great idea. It’s good for the website financially so we students can keep recieving these free scholarships. It’s also a lesson in responsibility. If you can’t be adult enough mark your calander to check for something this important (this amount of money should be important to you) then how are you ever going to make it through college or even life?

February 14th, 2009 | #
I am new to this web site so the methods of notification have never been any different for me. I find it exciting to have found a site where you can actually win scholarship money.
February 13th, 2009 | #
I think this is a great idea.
February 12th, 2009 | #
So everyone still has an equal chance?
February 11th, 2009 | #
It’s hard but i can honestly say it will pay off
February 10th, 2009 | #
I still cant figure out where to view the winners, I visited this site on the day that the scholarship was to be awarded and couldn’t find any winners posted. Can you only see them if you are a winner? Brittney, I am starting to agree with you. Plus how hard is it to notify the winner with an email.
February 9th, 2009 | #
This is crap! What about the students, like me, that apply for as many scholarships as they can. I don’t remember every single scholarship I sign up for becuase I sign up for every one I find.
February 8th, 2009 | #
This is very intresting and important, i thought when you win, the ScholashipPonits will have to wait and look for you by all means, not knowing after three days. Then, this will make me and some people try and visit ScholarshipPoints regulary.
January 30th, 2009 | #
I hope to win and pay for college. Because it is not easy paying for tuition and others.
January 26th, 2009 | #

This is a good idea.
January 16th, 2009 | #
I can see where this works. Hey, it’s the nature of all things free; you have to work for it.
I don’t think it’ll be hard to check. I’m taking all of my classes online this semester so it’s not like i won’t be here….
January 16th, 2009 | #
That sounds like a good idea!!
January 12th, 2009 | #
umm then we the fresh men would check it often as possible because we really need help……..by the way thanks for the good work
January 12th, 2009 | #
Oh my gosh, there are SO many comments, I don’t have time to read them all to check if my question was answered yet… Where exactly on the site do we go to see the name of the winner? Main page? Past winners page? I think you should have stated this information in the original post.
January 12th, 2009 | #
that sounds like a good policy
January 10th, 2009 | #
thanks for the info
January 10th, 2009 | #

January 6th, 2009 | #
Guys–this policy is for the January 09 and beyond. The January scholarship isn’t drawn until Feb 1st. It will be very clear where the winners are on the home page. Thanks!
Captain J
January 6th, 2009 | #
I have read and read and read, but can not find out how to determine if I have won? The winners link are a month old and if we have to check to see if we have won daily, where do we do that ??? Link is not easy to find if there is one????
January 5th, 2009 | #
I think this is a great idea!
January 5th, 2009 | #
I think this is a fair chance for everyone who applied
December 30th, 2008 | #
thats cool and fair!
December 30th, 2008 | #
I agree with Katherine. I like this rule because people who really want a scholarship have an advantage over people who just are entering and don’t really care. I NEED a scholarship so I have no problem taking 3 minutes to check the site on a certain day.
December 30th, 2008 | #
i think its an awesome idea and its totally true people fill out scholarships and don’t even know what they are for.
December 30th, 2008 | #
Now that’s how it should work!
December 30th, 2008 | #
Where will the winners be posted on the website?
December 29th, 2008 | #
thanks for the update
December 22nd, 2008 | #
I think this is fair to everyone!!!
December 22nd, 2008 | #
Hey Abby,
The winners are announced in various places on our network. There is a “winners” tab right at the top of the scholarshippoints homepage, they appear on the 10k scholarship registration page, in e-mails, and if they’ve included a picture, right on the scholarshippoints homepage. Thanks!
December 22nd, 2008 | #
This may sound like a dumb question, but where on the website are the monthly winners announced? I don’t know if it’s right in front of me and I keep on overlooking it or what, but I can’t find where the winners for the month are posted(not past winners but where on the website are winners of that day/month notified?)
December 21st, 2008 | #
Im indifferent on the subject at hand. So what if the winner is just m.i.a for 3 days and comes home to nothing, but then again i might be the runner up, so i really don’t know what to think.
December 21st, 2008 | #
i think this is a very well organized website……. it is very helpful
December 20th, 2008 | #
we will see how this works
December 20th, 2008 | #
and where on the website will it be posted? [i don't think this question has been answered]
December 19th, 2008 | #

Okay, Fern Hunt, we get that you’re going to be checking the site every day, same as all of us. You don’t need to say the same thing repeatedly and spam the comment thread. WE GET IT ALREADT.
December 19th, 2008 | #

sweet
December 17th, 2008 | #
Sounds good =)
December 17th, 2008 | #
Wow this is a fantastic idea! I’m still getting use to this website. How does the scholarship code stuff work? I need to get this all figured out or I would never win any points. Someone advise me please?
December 17th, 2008 | #
I think this is a great way to get more people to check there profile’s.
December 17th, 2008 | #
I have no problem checking out things for money all day!
December 16th, 2008 | #
thats something to come back for!!
December 16th, 2008 | #
wowow
December 16th, 2008 | #
I think it is a great idea. I admit I don’t come to the site as often as I should. I felt like I wouldn’t win anyway. Now that I see my chances will improve, I will be going onto the site more often. I think I’ll need to become more familiar with it to determine the best way to keep up with the dates of the scholarship drawings. Again, BRAVO!
December 16th, 2008 | #
I would love to receive more information on how I can receive scholarshhips.
December 16th, 2008 | #
I look forward to my points adding up and even winninig!
December 16th, 2008 | #
WOW!
December 16th, 2008 | #
@Bernice,
We assure you, this is the new policy.
December 16th, 2008 | #
great idea, thnx
December 16th, 2008 | #
I welcome the idea. And i will be able to check from 10/01/09 on wards.
December 16th, 2008 | #
Yes.. So people who check the site will have a better advantage.
December 15th, 2008 | #
is this a big joke to see how many people will response or is this for real.
December 15th, 2008 | #
This is a fantastic idea and I can’t wait to see if I won anything!!
December 15th, 2008 | #
wow i love this idea. i def agree with their plan some people are selfish as soon as their win they won’t ever go back to the site
December 15th, 2008 | #
Well admin, I see your point. I still don’t like not having an e-mail sent, but I guess I was being a little over-grumpy in my last post.
December 14th, 2008 | #
I’ll be sure to check back in
December 13th, 2008 | #
In a way, i think its fairto locate scholarship winners online but then aagin, what if those winners change their email. So, I think keeping all 3 options of email, phone, and mail are better for finding scholarship winners rather then just keeping one option.
December 13th, 2008 | #
i’m thankfull for the information.
December 13th, 2008 | #
thats cool
December 13th, 2008 | #
i like that idea
December 12th, 2008 | #
I’m really glad there’s a chance to get help well trying to futher your education. Thank You.
December 12th, 2008 | #
Did the question about whether the announcement would be visible in the RSS feeds ever get answered? I’m more apt to checking the RSS feeds than the site, but I could easily add an iCal reminder that pops up on the Drawing Dates to know when to check the site… er, provided I know WHICH site you mean. Is it ScholarshipPoints.com or the other one you linked to, or the forums, or the blog…?
December 11th, 2008 | #
Jackie, realistically, you only have to check one day. We’ll let everyone know when the winner will be posted and it’s your job to check and see if you won.
December 11th, 2008 | #
yea, that sounds really fair. I’ll be sure to check back in =]]
December 11th, 2008 | #
I guess I’m going to be one of the few people who disagrees, but I really hate this new plan. I come on this website every couple weeks and get activities done in spurts. I don’t have time to be checking on this every single day after the announcement of winners. Furthermore, I have a poor memory and will probably forget to do it. I can see how this would help the obsessive though. Good for you, but I really dislike being tied down to this website like a ball-and-chain. Why can’t I get a simple e-mail?! I know I’m going to catch alot of flack for this comment, but I felt it needed to be said.
December 11th, 2008 | #
fair enough, a very good idea.
December 11th, 2008 | #
THis seems fair enough to me!
December 11th, 2008 | #
That seems fair to me too.
December 11th, 2008 | #
That sounds like a great idea! deffinately gives the students that want the scholarship the most the advantage
December 11th, 2008 | #
I love it. This makes it a lot more competitive. Niiiiice i Liiiike
December 11th, 2008 | #
I can use all the help I can get
December 11th, 2008 | #
i LIKE THIS IDEA. ITS INTERSTING. i HOPE I WIN.
December 11th, 2008 | #
Cool, this is ver nice for person who interest scholarships. It provides equal right for all person. This is real democratic system. I have no doubt that this is better than before.
December 10th, 2008 | #
I like this idea. I think you sould start this as soon as possible.
December 10th, 2008 | #
Jess: I understand it would be beneficial for us to email you but $1,000 and $10,000 are a lot of money and you literally don’t have to do anything for one entry.
Is it really that hard to write on the calendar to check the site on the day of the drawing for that much moolah?
The problem is that we have hundreds of students who just enter one point and never do anything else on the site. Many of the little things you all do help us get the money we in turn give back to you. If we end up with a site full of people who don’t do anything all this “free” money stops flowing.
Not to mention hundreds of members are very involved and it makes me sad when they don’t win
I’m very open to other ideas to encourage involvement and to reward those who are!
December 10th, 2008 | #
I would prefer to be contacted via my email. I am doing everything I can to get scholarship money and it would be more beneficial to recieve an announcement of some sort.
December 10th, 2008 | #
Makes it more fare for people who are actually “active” members
December 10th, 2008 | #
WOW. I like this idea.
December 10th, 2008 | #
That seems fair enough to me. I plan to check on things daily.
December 10th, 2008 | #
This is just the point, the people reading this blog are the very ones who now have better chances to win! I’m glad you are all happy with it, we are doing it for you after all!
December 10th, 2008 | #
this is so much better! I love this idea! I wish you would start it now.
December 10th, 2008 | #
I think this is a GREAT idea. because I check DAILY and at the beginning of the month i go crazy blog-searching in case for that day I didn’t get phone reception or my email accidentally spammed it, get my drift? this way only faithful scholarship points members get awarded. and i highly doubt that it would roll for so long. I mean, c’mon! this blog was posted yesterday and look how many comments you have already! OBVIOUSLY there are faithful members paying attention. and if they are not, then the money should very well go to those that do.
December 10th, 2008 | #
Sounds good to me
December 10th, 2008 | #
I think this is a great idea! and if nobody claims the prize for an entire month it should definately ‘ride’ BUT I think you should state in the rules the limits of how high it can ride. I think 3 months worth is a good limit, because if you are announcing a winner every 3 days for 3 months and nobody claims it… well, that’s just depressing.
December 10th, 2008 | #
Fantastic. I like this idea.
December 10th, 2008 | #
I believe this is a good idea. I just joined this scholarhip website and so far it seems promising
December 10th, 2008 | #
Will you announce it in the feeds?
December 10th, 2008 | #
OMG FINALLY!
i feel like i work hard — for nuttin!
i like this.. yeahhhh i like this.
December 10th, 2008 | #
This is even better for those for us who do come visit the website everyday.
Great move!
December 9th, 2008 | #
But what if it takes a long time before someone replies, like a month? I think if it goes on too long, something else needs to be done.
It will be kinda annoying, checking every day (if you are an active member) to see of someone claimed the price or not.
But I like the idea. I just think it could get out of hand if it takes a long time to find someone to respond.
December 9th, 2008 | #
Hmm, interesting. I rather like. I guess we will see what happens
December 9th, 2008 | #
Thanks for the update! Glad to know new info is available.
December 9th, 2008 | #
I hope I win cause I need money for college and hope all of you follow your dream and alot of people who really cares about me tell me this NEVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU, YOU CAN’T DO IT BECAUSE IT YOUR LIFE AND DREAM AND FOLLOW IT!!!!
December 9th, 2008 | #
wow
December 9th, 2008 | #
I think this is a GREAT change in policy. Although Charles’ idea of letting the unclaimed money ride is an interesting one, I prefer the idea of moving on to the next person in line if the winner doesn’t contact ScholarshipPoints within 3 days. Not only does this idea help to promote the need for active membership on ScholarshipPoints but it also opens up the chances for those members (like myself) who are faithful members on ScholarshipPoints. I know – it’s all about me! LOL
December 9th, 2008 | #
Funny I thought you had endless cash oh well can’t hurt to advise though.
December 9th, 2008 | #
Oh I see, ha ha you mean just sweeten the pot each month because we have endless cash, right. Um no. We don’t.
We actually make little scraps of money when you guys sign up for some of the stuff on the site like savings accounts for example.
We use that money to give away scholarships but it doesn’t come close to covering the costs! We get a generous gift from Edvisors (Edvisors.com), our parent company but we have to run a tight ship. In fact CaptainJ is only paid in Rice Crispy Squares.
December 9th, 2008 | #
Yeah I figured as much, but at the same time if you can afford $10,ooo a month what’s an extra thousand or two going to hurt Right?
December 9th, 2008 | #
Charles: So you think we should let the money ride so the next month the scholarship is even more? Interesting. We considered that but then we’re in this to give as many deserving students money as we can.
Does anybody else think we should let it ride if its unclaimed?
December 9th, 2008 | #
I think it would be better if it was plaid like the lottery if a person forgets to check to see if they had won the money would change to like let’s say $12,000
December 9th, 2008 | #
I think it makes it more fair. Its no fair that people who earn hundreds of points every month don’t have better odds. Well I guess they do with more entries but you know what I mean. Good job guys!
December 9th, 2008 | #
interesting
December 9th, 2008 | #
Wilbur: Everybody still has an equal chance to win, its 100% random and that hasn’t changed.
All that has changed is that members who pay attention and come see if they won will be the only ones who win.
December 9th, 2008 | #
So this means that people who check the site regularly have an advantage? Cool! Now its even more motivating.
December 9th, 2008 | #
