12.31.08 | A very important Zoom Panel update

Posted in scholarship points by Kristin Morris

zoom

Hey Guys,

I have a bit of news.  We’ve noticed a ton of duplicate applicants in the ZoomPanel monthly scholarship.  We get the message.  You want more than one attempt at an additional monthly scholarship, and we don’t blame you.  So we’ve got your back.  Starting Jan 1, we’re pumping up the monthly scholarships in both money and chances to win.  How are we doing that?  Why, I thought you’d never ask.

Instead of the $1,000 we give away each month through Zoom, we’re going to do a couple things for you…

  • For one, everyone who has previously signed up for ZoomPanel or new signups will now receive 5x daily login points (If you log in every day for a month, that’s 150 points!–>look for this to go into effect Jan. 1)
  • And I know you’re bummed that the $1,000 scholarship is gone…so we’re doubling it!  And then some!  If you take a look at the enter scholarships page, you’ll see that from January through June, we’ve added 6 $2,500 monthly scholarships, plus a bonus $10,000 scholarship in July!

I told you we had your back.  For you math majors, that’s an additional $25,000 in extra scholarships next year.

We’ve been throwing wrinkles into the system lately, and for that I apologize.  We’re tweaking things here and there it’s a process.  But we’re just trying to make 2009 the best year it can be for ScholarshipPoints.  I think all of those extra daily login points and using them to enter into the extra $25,000 in scholarships is a good start, don’t you?

Here, have some points: JOINZOOMM

I almost forgot, everyone have a safe and Happy New Year

12.31.08 | Lotsa Money in 2009

Posted in scholarship points, scholarships by Kristin Morris

Hey gang. Remember when we promised you that as the site grew we’d have more moolah to toss your way. Well we are pleased, no we are ecstatic to announce that we are now going to be giving away an extra $2,500 scholarship every month at least through June and then in July we’ll give away another $10,000 scholarship!

All that is on top of the $1,000 we give away each month and the March and October $10,000 scholarships. We hope to continue the 2,500 scholarships past July and that gives us almost $100,000 to give you.

This is due to our sister site StudentPlatinum who you have supported by reading those blogs, reviewing their products and taking surveys. Please head over to StudentPlatinum.com to check out their page on the new scholarships (there is a point code on that page too).

Now start earning points to increase you odds, CaptainJ will be reaching out to you to tell you about some new exciting ways to do that.

Finally, head to the Free College Scholarships page and enter the new scholarships.

Happy New Year!

12.31.08 | Get your Student Advantage on RISK FREE

Posted in scholarship points by Kristin Morris

ScholarshipPointateers:

Alright the name needs work, but still, LISTEN UP!  We have a new deal worked out with Student Advantage and I wanted to make sure ya’ll hear about it.  Starting today, everyone who signs up for a Student Advantage discount card (*note, this is NOT a credit card) can do so for just $1 and still earn $10 back on your first purchase.  That’s like getting paid $9 to save money on every day stuff.  So whether you plan on hitting up the mall for post holiday sales or ordering a pizza when you get back to school, you could conceivably start saving big money for next to nothing.

PLUS, Student Advantage is being so kind as to let us know everyone who signs up through them.  Everyone who signs up for a card gets an additional 40 points.  Pretty cool?  I thought so.

Also, stay tuned for a new update on Zoom Panel later today (you’ll definitely want to check this one out too).

Come get your code for 15 points

12.22.08 | Points members: It pays to log in

Posted in scholarship points by Kristin Morris

zoom

Folks,

This message is primarily for those who have not signed up for Zoom Panel……

Get on that!  Seriously, here’s why you’d be nuts not to fill out a simple survey.

  1. It takes less than 5 minutes and it puts you in an entry to win $1,000.  Because new members are only eligible for this scholarship once, your odds are truly never better to win.
  2. Your ScholarshipPoints account gets credited 35 points.
  3. Perhaps the coolest of all, you get DOUBLE your daily log in points from the time you register onward.  For life.  FOREVER.  Coupled with the point activities we offer each week, you could easily be earning close to 50 points a week!

Beyond these ScholarshipPoints reasons, ZoomPanel is actually pretty cool.  It really doesn’t take too much work to earn points to redeem for cool stuff like books and DVDs.

As for you long time, faithful, devoted, devastatingly attractive and intelligent ScholarshipPoints members who have already registered for ZoomPanel, I know what you’re saying.  What gives?! Right?  Well, ScholarshipPoints is constantly changing and growing.  The bigger we get (and we are indeed getting bigger), the better prizes, the better membership benefits, bonuses, and more money we’ll be able to give away in the future.  I swear there will be great stuff had for all in the new year.

But in the meantime, remember that point activity with the $80k in new scholarship money?  If you remember correctly, you only had a couple of days to sign up for 2 of the $10,000 opportunities.  Well, you can REENTER those drawings!  They’re giving away another 10k on January 23rd.

Here’s that original post

And here are the two $10,000 scholarships (for the military one, you DO NOT need to be affiliated w/ the military).  And in case you’ve forgotten my directions about applying to these, when you submit your information, just keep clicking “next school” at the top until you reach the exit page–that way you avoid all the possible junk mail.

12.17.08 | Scholarship funding and cool stuff for you to try!

Posted in scholarship points by Kristin Morris

Hi guys,

What did everyone think of the scholarship offers last week?  I’m sure red flags went up for some of you.  I know whenever I’m blugeoned by flashy advertisements that tell me I could be the next winner!,  I tend to shy away.  I do want to insist though that I actually called up and talked to the people who run those scholarships (FCS.net, the military one, and WinningSurveys), and it’s true, they give an awful lot of money away every month to a relatively small number of applicants.  If you still haven’t signed up, you can do so here.  And I’ll give you a little inside scoop…every time you guys sign up for one of the offers we present you, we get a small commission.  That money is fully dedicated to funding our own scholarships BACK to you.  So not only are you getting entries into scholarships, but you’re also doing your part to insure ScholarshipPoints will keep giving away more money every month from our own scholarships.  Besides, we value your guys’ constant feedback, input, and general activity on our site, so we wouldn’t scare you away with anything we wouldn’t sign up for ourselves.

So without further adieu…more stuff for you guys to consider.  These aren’t scholarship offers, but I think they’re pretty cool nonetheless:

  • The first is Netflix.  Everyone knows Netflix right?  It’s a  cheap subscription service where you can rent pretty much as many DVDs as you want.  I’ve used them for the last two years and consider it money well spent.  Movies arrive in a day, I watch them and send them back in the prepaid package.  I split the most expensive plan with 2 roommates, so we had unlimited movie rentals for just a few dollars a piece.
  • The second is eMusic.com.  I don’t use them personally, but a very reputable source (my roommate) tells me it’s a great alternative to iTunes.  While you’re spending $0.99 cents a song at iTunes, you get 25 free trial songs from eMusic that work on any MP3 player.  If you choose to continue after the trial there are a few different plans to choose from ranging from $0.27-0.40 cents a song.

Keep in mind, these are both 2 week free trials.  Meaning, if you try them out and cancel them within 2 weeks, you won’t be charged a thing.  In my opinion, some free movie nights and 25 free MP3’s is worth filling out a form or two.  Thanks guys!

12.11.08 | Big BIG News, Win $80K!

Posted in scholarship points, scholarships by Kristin Morris

ScholarshipPointers:

Winter break is here, and while it may be tempting, try not to get sucked in to doing NOTHING.  Sure, it’s a great time to relax, see your family and high school pals, eat real food, etc.  But you can also make excellent use of your time by winning a scholarship for next semester.  Since I just graduated this past May, this winter holiday season marks the first time I don’t get a month break from school and work.  Bummer, I know.  But if a ScholarshipPoints member wins one of these monthly scholarships below, well, I think that would be AWESOME.  Always remember, every $500 or $1,000 or $10,000  that you can come up with in scholarships is that much less that you have to pay back in student loans.  And if you already signed up for these last month, do it again.  They’re new drawings every month, so you definitely can’t win if you don’t enter.

I was fortunate enough to walk away with some money towards school, but it took a lot of work.  From my senior year in high school throughout my 4 years of college, I made it a point every week to spend 15 minutes or so signing up for new scholarships.  The key to making it work is staying organized, and we’re here to help you with that!  If you haven’t already, read our free Scholarship Guide and visit our own scholarship search.  But first, check out the scholarship opportunities below.

If we at ScholarshipPoints love anything more than giving out money, it’s giving out other people’s money!  I kid, but seriously, we’ve done a bit of research over here and found some great scholarship offers you definitely should be interested in.  You can apply for these offers WEEKLY and get counted each time!

Here’s a brief rundown of each scholarship:

  • WinningSurveys.com Scholarship: an extremely simple signup for your shot to win $50,000 bucks.  No reason not to sign up.  They also give out $1,500 and $3,500 scholarships more frequently than the $50k
  • Cappex $1,000 Scholarship: Cappex is a terrific college matching tool.  A real must-use for incoming college students
  • FastWeb Scholarships:  Fastweb is the biggest scholarship search tool.  They do a great job of matching your profile to relevant scholarships.

And that’s all I have for you today, guys.  Pretty good point activity right?  So go win $80 grand.

12.09.08 | Important Scholarship Policy Announcement

Posted in Uncategorized, scholarship points by Kristin Morris

Dear Members,

Please read the following important announcement concerning how we will award scholarships in 2009. We believe this change will encourage more member participation and make it even easier for active members to win.

Program Change

Effective January 2009, monthly scholarship drawing winners will be announced only on our website. We will no longer call and email the scholarship winners each month. In order to win a scholarship, members will need to check the website on the day specified for the drawing. From that day winners will have 3 days to contact us to claim their scholarship.

After 3 days the winner will forfeit the scholarship and first runner-up will be posted and given a chance to claim the prize. He or she will have 3 days to contact us. This process will continue until somebody claims the scholarship.

Why are we doing this?

If a person joins, enters a scholarship and then never comes back to the site we are happy to award them the prize if they win. Sometimes however, when we try to reach the winner and they don’t even know who we are it seems a little unfair to the members who worked really hard to earn lots of points and who visit us regularly.

This system will put the odds in favor of active and regular members. Anybody who wins can collect their prize by simple checking the site on the drawing date specified. However if they never come back to the site the prize will fall to somebody who does making it even more rewarding to be a member!

How will you know when the drawing is?

The next scholarship drawing date will be posted on the homepage of the site so you will always know the day to come back and check.

What if you are out of town or away from a PC?

We give you three days to check the website for your name to be posted on the homepage. Most people have internet access at least once in 72 hours but if you don’t you will know ahead of time which day to ask your family or friends to check for you.

If you don’t win, should you check back?

Yes! If you don’t win and the posted winner doesn’t respond in time you could be the next winner so it literally will pay to check back often!

Finally if you read this announcement here is a code for 15 points: IHOPEUWIN

Sincerely,

Point Guard
